January Membership Meeting Was a Success!
We had a great meeting on January 22nd. Taub’s Floor Covering sponsored the event and we had about 70 people turn out at DaNoi to hear Bill Thompson talk about his strategy for NYC if elected Mayor in the upcoming election. Councilwoman Debbie Rose and former Councilman Jay O’Donovan joined us, as did a reporter and photographer from the Staten Island Advance. BIANYC members Alan Becker and Mike Schaeffer were on hand to give us updates on The Department of Buildings and the Parks Department.
Hopefully you’ve all heard the news about the emergency executive order signed by Michael Bloomberg that allows homeowners on Staten Island and in coastal areas throughout the city to meet new flood standards without violating zoning codes. If you have not read the actual text yet, please contact the Association office for a copy!

DOB Talks Post-Sandy Procedures
On January 18th and January 22nd, the Department of Buildings held presentations on “The Construction Standards in Flood Zones and Procedures for Rebuilding After Sandy”. Notes on the meeting were emailed to all BIANYC members…it’s a lot to
absorb so if you need the materials re-sent to you, please contact the office.
We hope to see everyone at the February 26th Membership Meeting!
